Reconnecting Your Instagram Feed on Squarespace
Sharing a feed of your Instagram is a great way to keep your website updated with timely and personal content, but you may notice that your feed occasionally stops updating.
Why is that?
In not-so-tech terms, this happens when Instagram changes its API (the connection that allows other apps to pull data from Instagram). For your security, it also requires this connection to be reauthenticated every 90 days.
While this is a somewhat common problem our clients contact us for assistance with, it’s very simple to fix you can complete on your own!
Step 1: Sign into Instagram.com
Visit a desktop computer and log into Instagram.com on your web browser. You want to make sure you’re signed into the correct Instagram account if you have access to many.
Step 2: Sign into Squarespace » Connected Accounts
Open another tab and sign in to your Squarespace Dashboard.
Select the website you’re working on.
Once inside your website, click Settings » Connected Accounts.
Click the Reauthenticate button.
Check that your latest post is showing by opening your website in another tab or on another device. Note that it might take up to 30 minutes to download the data.
Step 3: Troubleshooting
If reauthentication doesn’t solve the problem, you can simply add Instagram again.
Once inside your website, click Settings » Connected Accounts.
Go ahead and click Disconnect » Confirm on the Instagram account.
Now, click Connect and select Instagram from the Social Accounts menu.
Using your Instagram username and password. Click Save.
Return to the Instagram Block on your website. In the Account tab of the block editor, click the Connected Account drop-down menu to re-select your Instagram account.
Click Apply to save your change, then refresh the page. Check to see if your Instagram feed is now updated.
